एक मुट्ठी बाजरे के लिए मैं हिन्दुस्तान की सल्तनत खो देता

दिल्ली के सुल्तान शेरशाह सूरी (17 मई 1540 – 15 मई 1545) ने बाबर के उत्तराधिकारी हुमायूं को हराकर दिल्ली पर अधिकार किया एवं लगभग 5 वर्ष तक शासन किया।  शेरशाह सूरी ने राजस्थान में मारवाड़ के शासक मालदेव की बढ़ती हुई शक्ति देखकर 1543 ई में मारवाड़ के निकट सुमेल गांव 80000 की फ़ौज़ मालदेव की 50000 की फ़ौज़ के साथ "गिरी-सुमेल" का युद्ध लड़ा । मालदेव ने शेरशाह की सेना के ऐसे दाँत खट्टे किये कि एक बार तो शेरशाह का हौसला पस्त हो गया। परन्तु अन्त में छल-कपट से शेरशाह जीत गया। फिर भी मारवाड़ से लौटते हुए यह कहने के लिए मजबूर होना पड़ा - ""खैर हुई वरना मुट्ठी भर बाजरे के लिए मैं हिन्दुस्तान की सल्तनत खो देता।''

राष्ट्रीय उष्ट्र अनुसंधान केन्द्र or केन्द्रीय ऊँट अनुसंधान संस्थान, बीकानेर । National Research Centre on Camel (NRCC), Jorbeer, Bikaner: राष्ट्रीय उष्ट्र अनुसंधान केन्द्र बीकानेर में है। रेगिस्तानी इलाकों के सामाजिक में ऊँटों के महत्व को देखते हुए भारत सरकार ने भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद के अधीन बीकानेर में ऊंट परियोजना निदेशालय की स्थाापना 5 जुलाई, 1984 को की थी। यह केन्द्र बीकानेर से लगभग 10 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर जोड़बीड़ क्षेत्र में स्थित है जिसे 20 सितम्बर, 1995 को क्रमोन्नत कर "राष्ट्रीय उष्ट्र अनुसंधान केन्द्र" का नाम दिया गया है। भारत में एक कूबड़ीय ऊँटों की संख्या लगभग 5 लाख है जो मुख्य तया भारत के राजस्थान, गुजरात एवं हरियाणा में पाए जाते हैं। राष्ट्री्य उष्ट्र अनुसंधान केन्द्र एक कूबड़ वाले ऊँटों पर आधारभूत एवं व्यापवहारिक अनुसंधान के साथ-साथ लद्दाख की नूब्रा घाटी के ठंडे रेगिस्तान में पाए जाने वाले दो कुबड़ीय ऊँटों पर भी अनुसंधान हेतु ध्यान केन्द्रित कर रहा है। विगत 24 वर्षों में अत्याधुनिक प्रयोगशालाओं एवं आधारभूत सुविधाओं के विकसित होने से यह ऊँटों पर अनुसंधान करने वाला विश्व का अग्रणी संस्थान बन गया है। 
राष्ट्रीय उष्ट्र अनुसंधान केन्द्र, बीकानेर के प्रमुख कार्य हैं :
  • ऊँटों में सुधार एवं विकास हेतु आधारभूत व प्रायोगिक अनुसंधान करना।
  • ऊँट अनुसंधान के लिए राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर सहयोग व नेतृत्व प्रदान करना एवं राष्ट्रीय सूचना-संग्रहक के रूप में कार्य करना।
  • उष्ट्र अनुसंधान एवं विकास हेतु राष्ट्रीय व अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर सहयोग करना।

केन्द्रीय सूखा क्षेत्र अनुसंधान संस्थान, जोधपुर । Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI),Basni, Jodhpur: Central Arid Zone Research Institute was established by the Government of India in 1952 in Jodhpur, a city in the state of Rajasthan. It was previously known as Desert Afforestation Research Station until it was renamed in 1959.  The objectives of the Institute are to find ways to stabilising shifting sand dunes, establishing silipastoral and firewood plantations, planting windbreaks to reduce wind speed and subsequent erosion, rehabilitating degraded forests and starting afforestation of barren hill slopes. It has a small pictorial museum with a photographic exhibition illustrating the institute's work. The arid zone of India covers about 12% of the country's geographical area and occupies over 31.7 m ha of hot desert and about 7 m ha is under cold desert.
केंद्रीय शुष्क क्षेत्र अनुसंधान संस्थान (काजरी), जोधपुर की स्थापना 952 में भारत सरकार द्वारा की गयी थी । यह 1959 तक रेगिस्तान वनरोपण रिसर्च स्टेशन के रूप में जाना जाता था। केंद्रीय शुष्क क्षेत्र अनुसंधान संस्थान (काजरी) का प्रमुख उद्देश्य स्थानांतरण रेत के टीलों को रोकना, बिगड़े वनों का पुनर्वास और बंजर पहाड़ी ढलानों की वनीकरण शुरू करने एवं इसके नए तरीके खोजने के लिए कार्यरत है ।

राजस्थान के पंच पीर

राजस्थान के पंच पीर (Rajasthan ke Panch Peer):  राजस्थान की धरा पर अनैक संत एवं महापुरुषों ने जन्म लिया जिन्होंने विभिन्न धर्मो व जाति-पाति के विवाद को खत्म करते हुए आपसी भाईचारे का संदेश दिया । राजस्थान के लोक जीवन में कई महान व्यक्तित्व देवता के रूप में सदा के लिए अमर हो गए। इन लोक देवताओं में कुछ को 'पीर' की संज्ञा दी गई है। एक जनश्रुति के अनुसार राजस्थान में पाँच पीर हुए हैं। इन्हें 'पंच पीर' भी कहा जाता है, जिनके नाम इस प्रकार हैं-

Om banna Temple, Photos, Story

Om Banna is shrine near Jodhpur, India, devoted to a motorcycle god, also called Bullet Baba. Om Banna Story: Om banna or Om Singh Rathore belongs to Rathore family of Chotila. In 1991, on the way from Pali to Chotila, he drove into a tree and his motorcycle fell into a ditch which killed him on the spot. The motorcycle was seized by the local police and taken to the police station but was found the next morning at the accident spot. The bike was seized and taken back to Police station again where it was locked and chained, but it was found at the same place next morning again. The legend says that the bike without fail made it out of the police station even when the fuel tank was allegedly emptied. It is popularly believed that no matter what the policemen did Om Bana's Bullet returned to the accident site before dawn. This was seen as a godly miracle by the people who continue to worship the Bullet Bike still. Om Banna Dham chotila Rohit Pali district is opened every time 24 hour in every season with holy burning flame called Jyote.There are many shopes full of worship things.There are above 50 small and big shops near by Om Bnna Ji Dham Chottila on National highway Jodhpur to Pali Ahmadabad its also opened every season in 24 hour because any time many devotes  visit here. This temple is known as "Bullet Baba's temple".

Kuldhara – An Cursed village of Paliwal brahmins in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan

Kuldhara village near Jaisalmer in western Rajasthan has a very unique history as per stories in western Rajasthan of India. It is said that the residents of 84 neighboring villages including Kuldhara vacated the villages overnight around 170 years back! No one is sure where they have gone, but they are believed to have migrated to a place somewhere near Jodhpur. The residents were Paliwal Brahmans — said to be very intelligent, and residing there for about 500 years. So what made them do such an act? 
Stories say that The daughter of the village chief was a doe-eyed beauty. The notorious king of Jaisalmer happened to lay his eyes on this beautiful girl and wanted to take her as his wife. The king was famous for his debauchery and some loyal friend tipped the chieftain about his mal-intentions. The entire village of Kuldhara evacuated bag and baggage in one night and all that remained was an empty village without a single soul. When the Paliwals left the villages, they left a curse that nobody can inhabit the villages ever. Residents of Jaisalmer say that there have been some attempts by some families to stay there, but they did not succeed.

Sangri in Rajasthan | Sangri Ki Sabji | Achar | Saag | Ker Sangri Recipe

Sangri: Sangri is Peo or Fruit of Khejari Tree (Prosopis cineraria) which is found in Rajasthan mostly and also known as "Kalpvriksha" of Desert. Sangri is used for making Ker-Sangri Ki Sabji, Sangri Pickle or Achar, Saag in most of Rajasthan.
Ker Sangri Sabji Ingredients:
* Dried dessert berries (ker) - 1/2 cup
* Dried dessert beans (sangri) - 1 cup
* Yogurt - 1 cup + 4 teaspoons
* Oil - 4 tablespoons
* Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
* Dried red chillies - 5-6
* Ginger paste - 2 teaspoons
* Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
* Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
* Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
* Dried mango pieces - 5-6
* Salt - to taste
* Dry mango powder (amchur) - 1 teaspoon
* Fresh coriander leaves, chopped - 1 tablespoon
Method of Preparation: Soak berries and dried beans in one cup of beaten yogurt overnight. Take them out of the yogurt and wash under running water. Boil them for fifteen to twenty minutes in two cups of water with salt. Drain. Heat oil in a kadai. Add cumin seeds, dry red chillies and ginger paste. Sauté till cumin seeds change colour. Add a little water, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder and mix. Add dried mango pieces and four teaspoons of yogurt and mix. Add ker and sangri to the masala and mix. Add salt, amchur and coriander leaves. Mix well. Serve hot

Kaylana Lake, Jodhpur

Kaylana Lake, Jodhpur: Kaylana is an artificial lake located 8 kilometers (5 miles) north-west of Jodhpur. Built by Pratap Singh in 1872, the lake spreads over an area of 84 sq. km. It is believed that in the ancient past this region had palaces and gardens made by two rulers of Jodhpur - Bhim Singh and Takhat Singh. These made way for the making of Kalyana Lake. It is today a popular boating spot. 
A narrow strip of land separates Kaylana from another lake called Takhat Sagar. The Jodhpur-Jaisalmer highway passes through this stretch. The picturesque setting of this lake draws many. It is an excellent place for bird watchers as well. A bird watching point and a fort inside offer a vantage point for birding and sunset viewing respectively. One can also visit Machiya Safari Park en route. Just 1 kilometer from Kaylana Lake -- deer, desert fox, monitor lizard, blue bulls, rabbits, wild cats, mongoose, monkeys can be spotted here.
