Rajasthan's Kota creates world record on International Yoga Day

Rajasthan's education city Kota turned into Yoga city when over one lakh people performed yoga at one place at the same time and created a new Guinness World Record on International Yoga day, 21st June. Yog Guru Baba Ramdev and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje led people to perform Yoga at city's RAC ground. The international private organisation then handed over a certificate to Ms. Raje and Baba Ramdev, saying it had been the largest gathering worldwide of people performing yoga.
The function has set a world record for largest number of people performing yoga at one place at the same time. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev led the people at RAC Ground, where 30 lakh squre feet area was prepared for performing yoga. Last year, 55 thousand people of Mysore had set a world record performing yoga at one place at the same time.

18th All India Whips Conference at Udaipur, Rajasthan

The 18th All India Whips’ Conference was inaugurated by Shri Ananthkumar, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Chemical & Fertilizers today at Udaipur, Rajasthan on 8th January 2017. Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje Scindia, presided over the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. The two-day conference is hosting around 90 Delegates belonging to 19 States and Centre.  The conference will conclude on 9th January, 2018. In his inaugural address, Shri Ananthkumar informed that the duty of a Whip is not only to monitor the Members of the party in Legislature but also to moderate and motivate them. He compared the Whips Conference to twin Rainbows – Rainbow of various Political Parties and Rainbow of various States and stated that Parliamentary Democracy is the best form of democracy.  The entire purpose of this conference is to strengthen the parliamentary democracy, its institutions and ultimately serve the people at large, the Minister added.
The conference provides a platform to Whips of various political parties – ruling as well as opposition at the Centre as well as the States to exchange their views and experiences and discuss the challenges facing them in discharge of their Parliamentary duties and evolve norms for efficient working of parliamentary machinery.

GRAM 2017 in Udaipur from 7 to 9 November 2017

GRAM 2017 in Udaipur: The Divisional-level Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM) will be held in Udaipur from 7 to 9 November. To be organized at the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology the mega agri-event will have Video Arena, Special Pavilion for Agri Start-ups, Smart Farm, Conferences, Exhibition, ‘Jajam Chaupals’, among others. This was informed by Principal Secretary Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan, Ms. Neelkamal Darbari. The ‘GRAM’ Udaipur will be jointly organised by the Government of Rajasthan and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI). Ms. Darbari further elaborated that the objective of the ‘GRAM’ at Udaipur, as in the ‘GRAMs’ held in Jaipur and Kota, is to empower farmers with latest technical know-how and best practices and provide a platform for showcasing Agri-Innovations. The event will also be an appropriate platform for entrepreneurial networking as well as initiating knowledge and technology transfer. 
Principal Secretary Agriculture also informed that the Smart Farm will be spread over 1200 sq. mtrs, Exhibition Area over 4000 sq. mtrs, Outdoor space over 3200 sq. Mtrs. A special highlight of the 3-day Agritech event will be a ‘Video Arena’ set-up for international players to showcase industry's best practices, production set-ups and manufacturing capabilities using videos and pictures. A special pavilion for Agri Start-Ups will also be set-up to facilitate incubation support to Agri-entrepreneurs and early-age tech start-ups by providing access to expert vision, knowledge and varied resources. Experts and well-known personas in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry will be invited to speak at the event.  The Udaipur Division is the largest producer of Maize, Soybean, Paddy, Pigeon Pea in agricultural crops. It is also one of the largest contributors of major fruit crops like Mango and Custard Apple. Isabgol is also emerging as a major medicinal crop here. Interestingly the cropping intensity of the Division is 154% as compared to State’s 138%. The Division is also bestowed with a strong agricultural output and rich produce. It is also well-positioned for investment in agro-processing and has an effective highway, train and air connectivity. 
About ‘Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet 2017, Udaipur’ (GRAM) 
Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM) will be held from 7 to 9 November at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology in Udaipur. The GRAM Udaipur will be jointly organised by the Government of Rajasthan and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI). Government of Rajasthan looks forward to replicate GRAM 2017 Kota’s accomplishment at Udaipur in Rajasthan. One of the core objectives of ‘GRAM’ Udaipur would be to empower the farmers with latest technical know-how and best practices while providing them with new business opportunities and avenues for growth and agriculture and allied ecosystems. The event will bring all stakeholders- farmers from in and around Udaipur, agribusiness companies, academicians, progressive farmers and farmer groups, financial institutions, animal husbandry experts and policy makers. 

VASTRA 2017 in Jaipur

Textiles Minister Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani inaugurates VASTRA 2017 in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 21st September 2017. Speaking about the success of the mega textiles event Textiles India 2017, the Minister said that Textiles India was an effort not only of the Government; she said that it was an effort of the entire industry that wanted to tell the world in one voice, “Come, Make in India”. She added that nothing better says Make in India than Textiles in India. The Minister said this after inaugurating the 6th Edition of the 4-day international textiles and apparel fair VASTRA 2017, in Jaipur on 21st September 2017.
The Minister said that this confidence in the textiles sector is bolstered by the recent high growth of FDI in the textiles sector. Recounting the success of the Integrated Skill Development Scheme, Smt. Irani also said that the success rate of placements of skilled workforce in textiles sector is now over 70%. She added that the Government continues to engage with the trainees even after placement to ensure that individuals are able to sustain work in their work chain for at least 6 months. The Textiles Minister expressed satisfaction regarding the inclusion of design and other workshops in VASTRA 2017. She added that the beauty and variety of the designs that we have had historically in our nation is something that the Indian textiles sector can and does leverage internationally.
Smt. Irani said that in the growth of the textiles sector lies the growth of India and the growth of job opportunities. She said that the textiles sector provides direct employment to over 45 million people and indirectly impacts close to another 20 million households. She said that the Government of India has brought in Rs. 6,000 crore package specially aimed at providing support to the textiles, apparel and made-ups sectors.

प्रथम राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद युवा महोत्सव का आयोजन जयपुर में 14 से 16 सितम्बर 2017 तक

प्रथम राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद युवा महोत्सव (Rashtriya Ayurvedic Yuva Mahotsav Jaipur 2017) का आयोजन 14 से 16 सितंबर 2017 को जयपुर में राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद संस्थान में किया जाएगा। इस महोत्सव में 21 राज्यों से 3000 से अधिक प्रतिभागी शामिल होंगे। इस महोत्सव का आयोजन राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद संस्थान, जयपुर एवं विज्ञान भारती की इकाई नेशनल आयुर्वेद स्टुडेंट्स एवं यूथ एसोसिएशन (नस्या) द्वारा केन्द्रीय आयुष मंत्रालय के सहयोग से किया जा रहा है। इस संबंध में रविवार को राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद संस्थान, जयपुर में महोत्सव की स्वागत समिति की बैठक आयोजित की गई। बैैठक में सांसद श्री रामचरण बोहरा ने कहा कि वर्र्तमान युग में आयुर्वेद को आधुनिक रूप देने के लिए ऊर्जावान छात्रों व वैद्यों की आवश्यकता है तथा यह राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर आयोजित होने वाला युवा महोत्सव छात्रों के बहुआयामी व्यक्तित्व के विकास के लिए योगदान करेगा।
इस अवसर पर विधायक, श्री सुरेन्द्र पारीक ने कहा कि प्राचीन भारतीय चिकित्सकीय पद्धति बहुत अमूल्य है जिसे कम प्रोत्साहन मिला है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह के महोत्सव से न केवल आमजन को आयुर्वेदिक इलाज के बारे में विस्तृत जानकारी मिल पाएगी बल्कि इससे आयुर्वेद भी मुख्य धारा में आ जाएगा। इस महोत्सव के माध्यम से आयुर्वेद के क्षेत्र में नया विजन आएगा। इस अवसर पर विज्ञान भारती के सेकेट्ररी जनरल श्री ए. जयकुमार ने कहा कि आयुर्वेद के सभी छात्रों को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए तथा राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर एक मुहिम चलाने के उद्देश्य से इस कार्यकम का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि छात्रों की प्रतिभा निखारने के साथ साथ यह महोत्सव आयुर्वेद के प्रचार प्रसार में भी सहायक होगा। 

President delivers first Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Memorial Lecture

President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee delivered the 1st Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Memorial Lecture on the topic “History of Parliamentary Democracy in India” today (May 15, 2017) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He also presented the 1st Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Life Time Achievement Honour in Public Service to Shri Pawan Kumar Chamling, Chief Minister of Sikkim on the occasion. Addressing the gathering the President said he was honoured to be invited to deliver the inaugural Memorial Lecture instituted in memory of our former Vice-President Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, an outstanding statesman and a man of the masses. 
The President stated that Shri Shekhawat and he shared a long history of friendship. Both of them served together in the Rajya Sabha in the 1970s. Later, while Shri Shekhawat was Chief Minister of Rajasthan and the President was Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission, he had opportunity to see Shri Shekhawat’s extensive knowledge about problems being faced by citizens of Rajasthan, and his will to eradicate these day to day problems. He was deeply impressed by Shri Shekhawat’s commitment to the downtrodden and poor.  The President also congratulated Shri Pawan Kumar Chamling, Chief Minister of Sikkim on being conferred the 1st Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Life Time Achievement Honour in Public Service. He said that Shri Chamling has made unique contribution to the State of Sikkim which has emerged as a role model. 
In his Memorial Lecture, the President spoke about the History of Parliamentary Democracy in India. He said that he had outlined the history of representative Government for a specific purpose which was to underline the fact that if prominent legislators of pre-independence days with limited powers, could have done so much, how much more can be done by our MPs, MLAs and MLCs of today.  The President said that the 3 Ds – Debate, Dissension and Decision are essential in a Parliamentary system of democracy. Democracy should provide for an enabling environment which helps every section of the society to fully participate in the process of governance. 

ग्लोबल राजस्थान एग्रीटेक मीट (ग्राम) 2017, कोटा

ग्लोबल राजस्थान एग्रीटेक मीट (ग्राम) 2017, कोटा का आयोजन राजस्थान के कोटा में आरएसी परेड ग्राउंड में 24 मई से 26 मई2017 तक आयोजित किया जाएगा। तीन दिवसीय यह आयोजन कोटा के आरएसी परेड ग्राउंड पर आयोजित किया जाएगा, जिसमें लगभग 30,000 किसान भाग लेंगे। यह कार्यक्रम राजस्थान सरकार तथा फैडरेशन ऑफ इंडियन चैम्बर्स ऑफ कॉमर्स एंड इंडस्ट्रीज (फिक्की) द्वारा आयोजित किया जा रहा है। गत वर्ष जयपुर में आयोजित ‘ग्राम 2016‘ की उपलब्धियों को देखते हुए राजस्थान सरकार द्वारा ‘ग्राम कोटा‘ का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।
‘ग्राम कोटा‘ के आयोजन के प्रमुख उद्देश्यों में कोटा संभाग के किसानों को कृषि क्षेत्र में उपलब्ध सर्वोत्तम कार्यप्रणालियों से अवगत कराना और कोटा के कृषि विकास को गुणात्मक रूप से अगले स्तर पर ले जाना है। इस आयोजन के दौरान कृषि क्षेत्र के सभी हितधारक - जिनमें कोटा एवं आसपास के किसान, शिक्षाविद, प्रौद्योगिकीविद, कृषि व्यवसाय कंपनियां और नीति निर्माता शामिल हैं, एक मंच पर एकत्रित होंगे। ‘ग्राम कोटा‘ के बारे में जागरूकता लाने एवं इसे लोकप्रिय बनाने के उद्देश्य से गत माह बारां, छबड़ा, भवानी मंडी, झालरापाटन एवं रामगंजमंडी में ऑन-ग्राउंड एक्टिवेशन आयोजित किए गए थे, जिनमें किसानों से जबरदस्त रूझान प्राप्त हुये थे। ‘ग्राम‘ के प्रचार-प्रसार के लिए सरपंचों के साथ बैठकें एवं किसान सभाएं भी आयोजित करना प्रस्तावित है।

10th GST council meet begins in Udaipur, Rajasthan

10th Good and Services Tax (GST) Council meet began on 18th February 2017 in Udaipur in Rajasthan. The Agenda items of the meeting, headed finance minister Arun Jaitley, includes Approval of Draft Compensation law modified and vetted by Law ministry, Approval of Draft model GST law modified and vetted by Law ministry and Confirmation of decisions taken during 9th Council meet. 
A consensus has already been obtained on all the contentious issues, including crucial subject like on sharing of the administrative powers between the Centre and the states. This is first time when the council meeting is being held outside Delhi. Over 700 participants from Centre and all the states are attending the meet. 

ग्लोबल राजस्थान एग्रीटेक मीट 2016 -ग्राम 2016

ग्लोबल राजस्थान एग्रीटेक मीट 2016 में बुधवार को कृषि की नवीनतम तकनीकियों से किसान मंत्रमुग्ध नजर आए। प्रदर्शनी में हजारों की संख्या में किसानों ने कृषि से संबधित नवाचारों का अवलोकन किया। प्रदर्शनी में कृषि, पशुपालन, मुर्गीपालन, बागवानी, गोपालन सहित कृषि के प्रत्येक क्षेत्र पर कुल 216 स्टॉल लगाई गई है। ग्राम के दौरान कुल 20 हजार वर्ग मीटर क्षेत्र में प्रदर्शनी लगाई गई है। प्रदर्शनी क्षेत्र को विभिन्न श्रेणियों में विभाजित किया गया है जिनमें पशुधन, पोस्ट हार्वेस्टिंग टेक्नोलॉजीज, एग्री इनपुट्स एवं प्रोटेक्टेड कल्टीवेशन, आर्गेनिक फॉर्मिग, फूड एवं फूड प्रोसेसिंग टेक्नालॉजीज, कृषि मशीनरी और अलाइड सर्विसेज को शामिल किया गया है। साथ ही प्रदर्शनी में वित्तीय संस्थाएं, सिंचाई, प्लास्टिकल्चर एवं प्रिसिजन फार्मिंग कुछ प्रमुख क्षेत्र है। कृषि को बढ़ावा देने के लिए स्टार्ट अप्स पर विशेष पैवेलियन लगाया गया है। 
ग्लोबल राजस्थान एग्रीटेक मीट (ग्राम) के तीसरे और आखिरी दिन पशुपालन, पशु चिकित्सा और डेयरी की जाजम (चौपाल) पर किसानों का जमघट बढ़ गया जब राज्य सरकार के तीन मंत्री किसानों की समस्याओं के समाधान के लिए उनसे संवाद करने वहां पहुंचे। जलदाय मंत्री श्रीमती किरण माहेश्वरी ने काश्तकारों की समस्याओं को सुना और संबंधित अधिकारियों को आवश्यक निर्देश भी दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि किसानों की आय को सन 2022 तक दोगुना करने के प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी के मिशन को ग्लोबल राजस्थान एग्रीटेक मीट (ग्राम) संबल देने का काम करेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि ग्राम से तकनीकी ज्ञान और कौशल प्रबंधन को सीखकर न केवल काश्तकार अपनी आमदमी में बढ़ोतरी कर पाएंगे बल्कि वे समृद्ध भी होंगे।

Baba Ramdev to setup mega food park in Rajasthan

Yoga guru Ramdev today announced plans to set up a mega food park in Rajasthan and said his Patanjali group, which is entering into dairy and spices segments, can buy farm produce worth Rs 5,000-10,000 crore from farmers in the state. “I along with Patanjali will support Rajasthan Chief Minister in all her endeavours. The company is entering into milk industry and Patanjali would be keen to make Rajasthan a part of its journey,” Ramdev said at the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet in Jaipur. The mega agri event has been jointly organized by Government of Rajasthan and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).  
Chief Minister further said that the primary objective of GRAM is to ensure economic empowerment of the people through accelerated yet focussed growth in agriculture and to double farmer’s income. The state has conceived GRAM 2016 as an agri technology and business event that provides a platform to transform and catalyse sustainability and economic viability of farming.    Ms. Raje also said that Rajasthan has evolved as a strong investment friendly state and the Government is constantly working towards ensuring that these investments and benefit all stakeholders. Within just one year of holding the Resurgent Rajasthan Summit 2015, projects valued at almost Rs 5000 crores have already been implemented and projects worth Rs 54,000 crores and Rs 49,000 crores are under construction and under various stages of clearance respectively. Excluding the solar energy projects, the total likely investment to be grounded is Rs. 1.08 lac crores or 74 % of the investment commitments. This would be one of the fastest and highest conversion rates for any State in the country, she added.

Rajasthan signs 56 MoUs during Incredible India Tourism Investor’s Summit 2016

Department of Tourism, Govt. of Rajasthan participated in the Incredible India Tourism Investor's Summit - 2016 held from September 21 to September 23, 2016. The event organized by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of Rajasthan and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) featured signing of 56 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) by Rajasthan Tourism involving proposed investment of Rs. 977.57 Crore and employment of 4745 persons in the presence of Union Minister for state for Tourism Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Secretary Shri Vinod Zutshi. Secretary Tourism Rajasthan Smt. Roli Singh and Director of Rajasthan Tourism Shri Ashutosh A.T. Pednekar were also present in the Summit.
A Rajasthan state seminar was also a major attraction that focussed on investment opportunities and steps taken by the Rajasthan government to ensure speedy and hassle free investment in Rajasthan. The presentation exhibited more than 100 investible projects to the investors. As a part of this meet Rajasthan Tourism officials held more than 50 B2B meetings with numerous potential investors of varied interests. Director of Rajasthan Tourism  Shri Ashutosh A.T. Pednekar talked about the significance of the Summit and said, “The overwheming response received from the investors was highly encouraging and we look forward for numerous successful ventures ahead.”

One of the major milestones of Rajasthan government was approximately twice an increase in volumes of application for setting up Tourism Units after the announcement of the Tourism Unit Policy 2015. The Incredible India Tourism Summit proved to be a one stop shot for any investor entering India.

National Meet on Mining Sector in Jaipur on 27th May 2016

A national meeting of the Ministers in-charge of Mining Department of all State Governments has been convened under the Chairmanship of the Union Minister of Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar in Jaipur on 27th May 2016 to discuss the key issues pertaining to the mining sector.  This would be the second such meeting of the Mining Ministers of all the States for discussing the issues at the highest level of governance in the mining sector. 
The Jaipur national meeting of the Mining Ministers would provide an appropriate platform to discuss, review and firm up the way-ahead in expediting the pace of reforms initiated by the MMDR (Amendment) Act effective from 15.01.2015 and its adoption in respect of minor minerals as well. This high level meeting of the States’ Mining Ministers will enable intensive discussion on the issues, challenges and opportunities in the mining sector to realize its optimum potential and provide an effective platform to showcase the recent policy initiatives of the Government of India. It will also help the Central Government to take feedback on further improvements in the policy environment in the mining sector. 
The inaugural session will be chaired by the Union Minister of Steel & Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar. It is expected that 11 Ministers from respective states who have confirmed their participation would detail the efforts of the State Governments for promoting ease of doing business in the mining sector. They will highlight the key issues which the States may have encountered during the implementation of the reforms in mining and minerals sector. The Union Secretary Mines, Shri Balvender Kumar will start the discussion with a presentation apprising the States about the key issues of the mining sector and their current status. 
The meeting is being organized by the Ministry of Mines, through active participation and co-ordination by Geological Survey of India (GSI), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) & Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL). The Mining Department of the State of Rajasthan is the co-host of this national event.  The first meeting of the Mining Ministers was held on the 19th of January 2015, immediately after the MMDR Amendment Ordinance was implemented. The first meeting was extremely fruitful in firming up the strategy for implementation of the unfolding policy paradigm based on maxim of fostering transparency and realization of fair value.

Commemoration of 475th Birth Anniversary of Maharana Pratap

As part of “Maharana Pratap’s 475th Birth Anniversary Commemoration”, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India along with Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML), New Delhi and University of Rajasthan, Jaipur are organizing a Special Lecture and a National Conference at University of Rajasthan Campus, Jaipur on Friday, 4th March 2016. Prof. Ghanshyam Lal Devra, former Vice Chancellor of Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota will deliver the Special Lecture on the topic ‘Construction of “Mewar Legacy”: Maharana Pratap’s Conflict against the Mughals’. The Special Lecture will be followed by a Conference on “Maharana Pratap and His Times”. 
The day-long conference on ‘Maharana Pratap and His Times’ will explore the historical and cultural context of the life, work and legacy of Maharana Pratap. Scholars drawing on a variety of historical sources, Persian literary writings, epigraphic evidences, vernacular literary traditions as well as archaeological heritage will add fresh insights to the contribution of Maharana Pratap and historical significance of his times. 
Shri J.P. Singhal, Vice Chancellor, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur will deliver the Inaugural Address. Shri Sanjiv Mittal, Director, NMML and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture will preside over the function. Eminent scholars including Prof. V.K. Vashistha, Prof. K.S. Gupta, Prof. B.L. Badhani, Dr. M.S. Ranawat and Dr. Hukum Singh Bhati, etc. will present their papers in various sessions of the Conference, which will be followed by discussion.

  • The two-day global investment meet organised on 19, 20th November 2015 by the Government of Rajasthan in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
  • Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit 2015 attracted commitments of investments from 295 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) amounting to Rs. 3,21,199 crore with proposed employment for 2,39,694 lakh people.
  • 9 MoUs in energy sector worth Rs 190,000 crores
    122 MoUs in tourism sector worth Rs 5783 crores
    40 MoUs in manufacturing sector worth Rs 11760 crores
  • The largest number of MoUs were signed in tourism sector. At 122, the investment commitments stand at Rs 5783 crore. This is expected to generate 18617 jobs in the sector. 
  • The medical and health sector, with 36 MoUs and expected investments of Rs 4752 crore, will create the largest number of jobs, touching 81605. 
  • 10 MoUs signed in the agriculture sector worth Rs 2402 crore – this will lead to 5317 people getting employed.
  • Under roads and highways, the state signed one MoU worth Rs 10,000 crore in addition to the 4 award of sanctions worth Rs 25446 crore
  • Petroleum & Mines sector attracted proposed investments worth Rs 77,657 crore through 25 MoUs that can create 18,472 jobs in the State.

Summer festival 2014 is held in Mount Abhu (Rajasthan) from 12th to 14th May 2014. Summer festival is held every year during the month of May on Budh Poornima. The festival celebrates the warmth and cheerfulness of the people of hill station, who welcome the tourist from the depth of their hearts. The hospitality of the people, their colorful culture and exotic location made this festival a never to be forgotten experience.
The festival begins with a ceremonial procession, which starts from the RTDC Hotel Shikhar and gather at the Nakki Lake Chowk followed by folk performances of Rajasthan & Gujrat states. The grand finale of the Festival a display of dazzling fire works all three days. This three day colourful festival is organized by the Rajasthan Tourism, Municipal Board, Mt.Abu & District Administration. The second and third day of the festival is more interesting because of various competitions that take place the whole day. Skating Race, skater’s Show, CRPF Band Show, Boat Race, Horse Race, Tug of War, Panihari Matka Race and Deepdan add to the excitements of the celebration.

Nagaur cattle Fair 2014 from 6-9th February

Nagaur cattle Fair is held from 6th to 9th February 2014. This fair is held every year during the month of January - February, is popularly known as the cattle fair and is the second largest in Rajasthan. Nagaur Town becomes a sea of animals, trading over 70,000 bullocks, camels and horses every year. The bullocks are known for their fleetness. Not only are the animals lavishly decorated, even their owners flaunt their colorful turbans and long mustaches. From shearing sheep to handsome marwari horses to spices all compiled in one fair. Attractions include the ‘mirchi’ bazaar (largest red chilly market of India), wooden items, iron-crafts and camel leather accessories. However it is just not the number factor for which this fair has risen into popularity. It is also about the quality of the cattle that has earned it a special reputation. In the Nagaur's Cattle Fair all the cattle are beautifully decorated. These are spotted boasting fascinating accessories in absolutely lavish manner. However it is not the cattle only that are beautified. The owners also boast of gorgeous turbans speckled with vibrant colors and impressive long moustaches.
Apart from cattle the other items that are also exhibited for trading in the Nagaur Cattle Fair, Nagaur include wooden items, iron-crafts, camel leather accessories, etc. A very noted Mirchi Bazaar or Red Chili Market of India is also organized.  Sports like tug-of-war, camel races, bullock races and cockfights; jugglers; puppeteers, storytellers; and exciting campfire evenings are held to entertain the tourists. Folk music of the Jodhpur variation echoes the tranquil desert sand. Nagaur is well connected to the major cities by road and rail. Nearest airport is Jodhpur, some 135 kms away.

Godwad Festival, Rajasthan

The Godwad festival is a new three-day cultural festival introduced by the Rajasthan Tourism Department to promote the 'Godwad' region of the Pali district. The festival is held at Ranakpur and was initially promoted as a "Yoga Retreat and Classical Dance Festival". The first festival was held in August 2011 and the second Godwad festival was held in March 2012. Classical dances performances are held at the 13th century Sun Temple, besides traditional processions of Marwari horses and elephants, horse dancing and racing and folk dances as part of the festival. Godwad Festival- 2013 is scheduled to be held on 9-12 April 2013.
